You said "Category 3 is possible, but statistically unlikely." I'm just suggesting that it is not as unlikely as you think. Is it possible that normal social confidence looks like "outsized social confidence" from your vantage point?

Also, I think your Amish girls might belong to category 5, but in a slightly different way. They're not "attached" in that they're married but they probably find themselves to be "off the market" because of their obvious difference of religion/society. So they can let their guard down because they don't have to worry about how people will take them.

In any event, interesting thoughts. I've been following your beta & female psychoanalysis for a little while (I'm somewhat beta myself) but haven't had the time to respond with clear thoughts. Thanks for letting me comment.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12644557735209287031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-32028684387834014702009-02-19T17:28:00.000-05:002009-02-19T17:28:00.000-05:00I agree, but I would say that some people have mor...I agree, but I would say that some people have more natural expressive of warmth than others. I can be a very warm person, but expressing that with people I don't know can be something of a drain. I don't know whether it's biological (introverted like Dad) or whether I consider warmth to be a sort of vulnerability that increases my anxiety and drains me. But I do think that such things come very naturally to some people.

My mother would warmly greet a light-post if she felt that the light-post would understand and that she wouldn't be carted off to a mental ward.trumwillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03156143676616919381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-62526850334592721712009-02-19T16:31:00.000-05:002009-02-19T16:31:00.000-05:00Erik: it's Greek, not Latin. And in reference to my luck, did you mean to say category 1?

Trumwill: I would even go so far as to say that most women have the capacity for warmth, but that the expression of that warmth is highly situation-dependent. It's the rare woman who overcomes her situation to be warm anyway.Burkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14252946969701576139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-55445388987383332362009-02-19T15:07:00.000-05:002009-02-19T15:07:00.000-05:00Sorry, mixed my Latin. Please replace all reference...Sorry, mixed my Latin.

Please replace all references to Σ with Φ.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12644557735209287031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-71452582563398306342009-02-19T15:05:00.000-05:002009-02-19T15:05:00.000-05:00As Category 3 is not as unlikely as Σ thinks, Σ is...As Category 3 is not as unlikely as Σ thinks, Σ is either overly pessimistic, unlucky, or perhaps both.

What does Mrs. Σ think?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12644557735209287031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-67605341151240634872009-02-19T00:25:00.000-05:002009-02-19T00:25:00.000-05:00Category 3a.
