And if that's okay, why not this?

It really did come down to who/whom.Dr. Φhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14086783503820477029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-30018512777330226992012-05-20T19:27:36.362-04:002012-05-20T19:27:36.362-04:00I remember the discussion over CleanFlix/ClearPlay...I remember the discussion over CleanFlix/ClearPlay and was "surprised" how those who would normally celebrate the remix/reuse culture suddenly found an interest in copyright and artistic integrity.

I think this is similar to those who celebrate "edgy" stuff that "challenges our assumptions". . . unless you are talking about, say, sex or race differences. Then, all of a sudden, challenging assumptions and being "edgy" is no longer entertaining.

I have some sympathy for the artistic integrity argument, but not a lot. These companies, producers, and directors are perfectly willing to allow altered versions of their movies for TV and airline use. Indeed TV generally involves gross altering of artistic content both because the pan-and-scan re-framing of shots, and editing of length to fit the schedule (and for content – television being more restrictive than video).

I think the fight against the technology was as much cultural as economic as it sounds exactly the kind of "mass customization" often celebrated by the same people.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29763791.post-26016584159385103812012-05-17T11:54:35.556-04:002012-05-17T11:54:35.556-04:00Well, there is only one top rung on a ladder.
