Published!

I just got word that my first conference paper has been accepted for publication.  I should get a trip to Iceland out of it.

So . . . what’s in Iceland?  How can I leverage the conference to get some cool pictures?

What's in Iceland? SRSLY? Man, I would kill to visit places like these. Ain't academia great? My brother is a prof at a major US university school and he's constantly getting free trips to all sorts of neat places.

Anyway, congrats. I've actually been thinking long and hard recently about whether engineering wouldn't have been a better career for me. But I'm not sure I have "the Knack".

Wow, look at this stunning scene.

Also, Iceland has volcanoes.

Iceland is a very interesting place. It's a volcanic island in the north atlantic -- pretty wild. Reykjavik is a pretty small city, more like a big town really, but the main draw in Iceland is the spectacular, almost other worldly, landscapes and things like hot springs in the middle of the winter. A very interesting place to visit.

Never been to Iceland but have seen lotsa pictures. Pretty neat place but lacks trees.

Iceland may have spectacular natural beauty, but from what I've heard it also has spectacularly high prices for just about everything.

It did when I was there, too, back in 2005, but with all the economic chaos in Iceland in the past year I'm not sure what the prices look like from a forex perspective.
